Kindergarten

 

Welcome! The kindergarten program at Rolling Hills is focused on high academic achievement while still incorporating a joy of learning. Throughout kindergarten, we will facilitate your child’s academic, social, and emotional growth while fostering an excitement for school. We look forward to learning and growing together!

 

Language Arts

Our language arts program starts with learning letters and sounds, then moves to words, and culminates with independent reading and writing. We utilize Fundations for phonics instruction.

Math

Our school uses Bridges curriculum to teach math. We focus on counting and cardinality, geometry, operations and algebraic thinking, measurement and data, and numbers in base 10.

Scoical Studies/Science

Social studies and science in kindergarten incorporates investigations, rich literature, and exploring the world around us. We teach the NGSS standards for science and the 2020 Colorado academic standards for social studies. 

Social Emotional Learning

In kindergarten, students learn about zones of regulation to help self-identify and navigate big feelings. We use Second Step curriculum to further social emotional awareness and learning.
